Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, in a detailed 16-page letter addressed to the NITI Aayog Governing Council on Saturday, emphasized that the state aspires for sustainable and equitable development. Though unable to personally attend the meeting, the Chief Minister expressed his views on Karnataka’s role in nation-building and highlighted the need for inclusive progress rooted in justice and innovation from the grassroots level.
In his letter, CM Siddaramaiah stressed that the “India@2047” vision should not remain a mere slogan but should become a means to bridge inequality. He urged the Centre to ensure uniform development across all states to strengthen cooperative federalism. “Our challenges lie more in distribution and inclusive governance than in the availability of resources or capacity,” he said, highlighting the need for balanced development involving all states and communities.
Siddaramaiah asserted that the Digital India mission must reach even the remotest villages and underserved groups, including tribal students and elderly women. He called for a strong focus on literacy, education, and skill development to empower these populations.
The Chief Minister flagged the widening gap between education and employment as a serious issue contributing to economic insecurity. He also warned of the looming threat posed by climate change, citing its effects such as water scarcity, disruptions to agriculture, heatwaves, and the impact of urbanization on rural livelihoods and health.
To combat these, he proposed the implementation of climate-responsive action plans. He further emphasized the importance of giving equal priority to economic development and social harmony. Siddaramaiah reiterated the need to uphold pluralism, social justice, and the rule of law.
He also stressed the necessity of properly implementing a decentralized governance system to enhance the capabilities of states. Central government schemes, he insisted, must be delivered transparently and in a timely manner. In conclusion, he pointed to the critical need for better handling of national security, border protection, and communal harmony challenges.
The Chief Minister’s remarks underline Karnataka’s vision for a just, inclusive, and forward-looking developmental roadmap aligned with national goals.
