Clay “Dream,” the famous YouTuber and Minecraft star, shocked fans after posting a new video titled “I might not ever play Minecraft again.” The video was released in early November 2025, on his official YouTube channel, and it left fans worried about his gaming future. Dream said the title was not clickbait and admitted that his time with Minecraft might be coming to an end.
The reason? A serious wrist injury that happened during a sparring session earlier this year. Dream said he broke a bone in his wrist called the scaphoid while boxing with his friend and fellow YouTuber, Sapnap. The injury has left him in a cast for months, and doctors told him it might take a long time to fully heal.
Dream explained in the video, “The title is not clickbait. I may never be able to play Minecraft again, at least as good as I used to be.”
Clay “Dream” talks about his painful recovery and how it affected his gaming
Dream told fans that the injury happened while sparring with Sapnap in their garage before the now-canceled Creator Clash 3 event. “I went and sparred [Sapnap] in our garage, and I broke my wrist in the process. I was throwing punches in ways that you shouldn’t… I threw some overhand punches and hit with my wrist. I broke a bone called the scaphoid,” he said in the video.
Doctors later told him that the scaphoid bone is one of the hardest bones in the body to heal because it gets very little blood flow. “My luck,” Dream added, sharing that even after two surgeries, he still has to wear a cast and go through physical therapy.
Dream also said he didn’t realize the injury was serious at first because it didn’t hurt much, which made things worse. Over time, he noticed that his wrist movement became weaker, and it started to affect his gaming.
“I was not as good at the game. My aim was off. I was having a hard time fighting people because of my wrist,” Dream said. He explained that Minecraft needs a lot of hand movement and quick reactions, and now he struggles to play like before.
After visiting the doctor, he learned that surgery was necessary. He went through two operations to fix the broken bone and now faces a long recovery. Dream also said that even after therapy, there’s no promise his wrist will fully heal.
Still, he remains hopeful. “Every day I woke up and had to work on something, and I have no doubt in my mind that I’ll do the exact same thing here. It’ll be a comeback story for the ages,” Dream said, ending his video on a positive note.

Dream, who also makes music and posts on social media, told fans he would focus on healing before deciding what’s next. Earlier this year, in mid-2025, Dream also said on X that he would not be participating in Pride Month events.
For now, fans are sending him well wishes as they wait to see if the Minecraft legend will make his big comeback once his wrist heals.
