Stranger Things will live on after season 5 as Netflix shares exciting update

Netflix has unveiled an exhilarating first glimpse at the forthcoming spin-off series of Stranger Things, which is set to arrive sooner than fans may have anticipated.

The thrilling new teaser precedes the return of Stranger Things for its fifth and final season this month.

Stranger Things: Tales From '85 is a new Netflix adventure series crafted by Matt and Ross Duffer, with Eric Robles taking on the role of Showrunner.

The synopsis for the eagerly awaited Netflix animated series states: "Welcome back to Hawkins in the stark winter of 1985, where the original characters must fight new monsters and unravel a paranormal mystery terrorising their town in Stranger Things: Tales From '85, an epic new animated series."

The voice cast for the new series includes Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Ej (Elisha) Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Ben Plessala as Will, and Brett Gipson as Hopper.

Additional voice actors include Odessa A'zion, Janeane Garofalo and Lou Diamond Phillips, reports the Mirror US.

In the newly released teaser clip, the Duffer Brothers delve into their concept for the animated spin-off, revealing it was "one of their first ideas" for expanding the Stranger Things universe.

"The idea was kind of to evoke a feeling of an '80s cartoon," Duffer explains in the first look video.

"With animation there's really no limits. Eric and his team can just go wild... and they have."

The clip then cuts to the animated Stranger Things friends on their bikes, before Robles adds: "What we've been able to capture is the magic of Hawkins in a new way.

"Our story takes place between seasons two and three, but we soon learn that nothing is quite as they thought it was.

"So get your flashlight, get your backpack, because it's gonna be amazing."

At the end of the video, it is then revealed that Stranger Things: Tales From '85 is set to arrive on Netflix in 2026.

The announcement comes as supporters worldwide marked Stranger Things Day, with Netflix explaining: "On November 6, 1983, Will Byers went missing in Hawkins, Indiana.

"Long after the town gave up the search, his friends kept looking... and discovered a mysterious girl known only by a number: Eleven.

"She was alone, hunted, and extremely powerful. Eleven would stop at nothing to help them find their friend.

"Stranger Things fans everywhere celebrate November 6 as 'Stranger Things Day,' a special day to share their love for the world of Stranger Things."

Stranger Things is available to stream on November 26 in the US (5pm PST and 8pm EST) and November 27 in the UK at 1am GMT
