A truckload of anti-scale riot fencing has been spotted arriving near the White House, a freelance photographer has claimed.
The reason is unclear yet however the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to visit President Donald Trump next week.
Netanyahu will visit New York City on Friday, Sept. 26 , for the UN General Assembly session.
His arrival is expected to be met with widespread protests.
A warrant was issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) and activists are calling for the arrest of the Israeli leader accused of war crimes in Gaza. Democratic nominee for NYC mayor, Zohran Mamdani, said as mayor he would arrest Netanyahu if he traveled to NYC.
The Israeli leader's presence at the U.N. is contested even more as Trump revoked the visas of 80 Palestinian officials, including Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, who will address the session via video conference call.
Friday's protest is organized by a broad coalition of groups, including the Palestinian Youth Movement, the Palestinian Feminist Collective, the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights, and the People's Forum, under the slogans "Arrest Netanyahu", "Stop the Genocide", and "Sanction Israel".
About the fencing near the White House, one user commented on X: "The people's house has become more and more inaccessible. When my oldest visited on a school trip, they got a tour. When my middle one went, there was a fence in place. Now with the barricades, National Guard, and the Capitol also inaccessible thanks to January 6, I won't be sending my youngest on that school trip at all. Three childhoods with very different experiences within a span of 12 years. Crazy and tragic."
Another wrote: "prob early prep for Bibi at the WH on Monday"- it isn't clear yet when or if he would visit the White House.
During his last visit to Washington D.C in July 2024, Netanyahu received a standing ovation in the halls of Congress. On the same day, thousands marched to the US Capitol denouncing Israel's "genocide" in Palestine and were subject to pepper spray, injuring several protesters.
