Cheryl McGregor, 65, is best known as 'Queen Cheryl' and has built up a huge online following thanks to her unusual love story, which has seen her marry a man young enough to be her grandson. She has amassed more than five million followers and nearly 200 million likes on TikTok, turning her into one of the platform's most famous age-gap stars. However, fans are expressing concern for the unlikely couple because of one worrying change.
Recent eagle-eyed viewers have noticed that while Cheryl is still posting regularly online, her much younger toyboy husband has suddenly disappeared. "Where's Quran?!" one follower asked. "He hasn't been on her page in ages." Another said: "Did they split up? Or is something else going on?" The pair first met in 2012 when Quaran was just 15, working at a fast-food restaurant managed by Cheryl's son Chris - one of seven children who have gone on to have 17 grandchildren - but their relationship did not blossom until eight years later.
Despite being younger than one of her own children, Quran proposed to Cheryl at an Olive Garden restaurant in July 2021 with a $3,000 (£2,200) engagement ring. He said, "I was extremely nervous before, and I tried my best to keep my composure, but I was crying as soon as we entered the parking lot.
"There are many reasons why I chose to make Cheryl my wife. She's beautiful, elegant, strong, noble, honest and compassionate. Cheryl was shocked as she didn't know I was going to propose but it made her feel special."
Since getting married, the couple have continued to post videos, regardless of critics online who have branded their marriage a "publicity stunt".
"We don't care what people say," Cheryl declared. "Our love is stronger than the hate."
Qran also said: "We're soulmates. Age is just a number."
The couple went on to announce they were planning to have a baby through surrogacy. In July 2024, they hosted a gender reveal party, announcing with balloons and cake that they were expecting a girl.
However, just weeks later, Cheryl appeared solo more often, with Quran nowhere to be seen.
In one recent clip, she smiled into the camera and mouthed along to a song about missing someone, sparking comments such as, "She's telling us without telling us".
"She's waiting for her man to come home," said another.
