Bread can be made using just five ingredients with no kneading required, says one baking expert. Lots of people prefer to make their own fresh loaves rather than purchasing bread from a supermarket or a corner shop. Fortunately for those who tend to lean towards what is quick and easy, some breads are easier to make than others. If that sounds a bit like you, then this might just be your DIY gateway recipe to try at home.
One TikTok user shared his simple bread recipe that he says is the "easiest" to make, pointing out that it needs to be kneaded. The baker, who posts under the username Let's Eat on TikTok, said that the recipe only requires five ingredients and comes out "beautifully golden brown". The loaf he makes in the video is a seeded white bread and appears to be gorgeously spongy on the inside and crispy on the outside. In the short clip, which has been viewed more than 100,000 times, he shows the simple steps to follow.
The ingredients he uses to make his seeded loaf of bread are:
- 440g (3 cups) bread flour
- 1 tsp cooking salt
- 1 tbsp fast-action yeast
- 340ml (1.5 cups) warm water
- 100g (2/3 cup) mixed seeds
To start, he grabs a mixing bowl and adds his bread flour. Then, he adds the cooking salt and the fast-action yeast to the bowl. Once you have given that a "good mix", you add in the mixed seeds. Whisk that again to ensure that they are fully spread throughout the mix.
The warm water is then added and mixed with the dry ingredients until there is no visible flour. While it doesn't require any kneading, it does require proofing for two to three hours.
The dough is ready after it has doubled in size and become wobbly. Your oven should be preheated to 230C before the bread dough is placed in. You also need to remove the dough from the sides of the bowl using a spoon and flour a work surface, where the dough will be folded four times from each side.
Finally, roll it into a ball shape and then roll it onto some seeds to get some on the surface. Cover that with a bowl and let it proof for 15 minutes. Grab an oven-proof pot, line it with paper, and place the dough inside. Cover the pot with the lid and place it in the oven.
It goes into the oven for 30 minutes while covered with the lid. Then, you take it out and remove the lid, and place it back into the oven for a further ten minutes or until it becomes "beautifully golden brown".
