Weatherfield looks set to be rocked by yet another teen pregnancy scandal as spoilers released for upcoming episodes of Coronation Street indicate one of the younger cobbles residents is expecting the pitter-patter of tiny feet. The drama begins when Lily Platt (played by Grace Ashcroft-Gardner) tells her father, David (Jack P. Shepherd), she's suffering from a stomachache. Sceptical that she is ill, he sends her to school anyway, but he later complains to his sister, Sarah Barlow (Tina O'Brien), that the teenager has been fighting over some lad and tried to skive off school. Although Sarah voices concern, he ignores it.
However, he is later infuriated to discover that his new neighbour, Carla Connor (Alison King), has been dumping rubbish in his bin. His fury soon turns to intrigue when he finds a pregnancy test. Convinced it's Carla's stepdaughter, Betsy Swain's (Sydney Martin), David gleefully shows it to Sarah, but when she suggests it might be Lily's, his glee turns to horror.
Sarah herself was a teen mum, scandalising the street when she fell pregnant with her now grown daughter Bethany (Lucy Fallon) at just 13. Could her niece be following in her footsteps?
If Lily is expecting it, it will be a huge storyline for the new young actress playing the role. The character was recently recast, and fans were left speechless when she showed up with a new face.
The youngest of David's children was previously played by Brooke Malonie for nine years from 2016 until 2025.
Prior to that, twins Betsie and Emmie Taylor portrayed her from 2014 to 2016, and Ava and Lilly Bushell portrayed her as a baby in 2013 and 2014.
Grace Ashcroft-Gardner, 13, has now stepped into the role. She shared her excitement at joining the soap on Instagram, writing: "I am so excited to share my news that I have joined the cast of Coronation Street playing the role of Lily Platt!
"It's been a brilliant few months since my first audition, which wouldn't have happened without the fantastic Stagebox team (who I can't thank enough!)
"The whole Corrie team, the cast and crew have been absolutely amazing, I couldn't have asked for more support during my first few weeks filming on the cobbles."
She received support from her co-stars, including David Platt actor Jack P Shepherd, who wrote, "Yay! It's great to have you as part of the family, Grace."
