Broccoli can be a great healthy addition to a number of meals as it provides vitamins and fibre. However, it can often get a bad reputation for being a bit boring and bland.
The vegetable can turn bitter and sometimes mushy if it's overcooked. Meanwhile, it's not advised to boil broccoli as this can cause it to lose nutrients and flavour. But there is one recipe to make the perfect crispy broccoli which takes just seven minutes.
Lisa Bryan from Downshiftology recommends cooking broccoli in an air fryer for the best results. She said all you have to do is toss them in seasoning before cooking.
Her recipe says: "This air fryer broccoli recipe is yet another dish to add to my endless list of air fryer vegetables. Previously, I've always defaulted to roasting vegetables, like my roasted broccoli.
"But this air fryer version achieves the same results (crispy yet tender florets) in less time. So yes, I'd say I'm slightly obsessed with my air fryer, and you should be too."
For seasoning, Lisa recommends using garlic, salt, pepper and some olive oil. She advises using garlic powder as it helps coat the broccoli more effectively.
You can also add thyme, grated parmesan cheese, and lemon juice to elevate the broccoli's flavour. Although frozen broccoli can be used for this method, the chefs advise against thawing it before air frying.
Here is the full method:
Lisa said: "Air fryer broccoli is the best way to get crispy-tender broccoli in under 10 minutes. Just toss the florets with a simple seasoning and then pop them into the air fryer. You'll have a perfectly cooked vegetable side dish in minutes!"
