Son Heung-min revealed how emotional videos from the families of Tottenham's players helped inspire their historic triumph. At a team meeting at their Bilbao hotel ahead of the final against , the players sat and watched good luck messages from their loved ones.
Spurs skipper Son revealed how the move – the brainchild of boss – served to motivate and inspire the players to land . “There should be some secrets but, look, family is all we care about,” said Son. “It's the most important thing in my life.
“Their commitment, their love from day one. Since I started football, my family was always there. When I watched the videos from family members I was getting emotional. I desperately wanted to win. Not because of me, I just wanted to win for the family.
“People think players are deserving of this trophy, but it’s the families who deserve this for their sacrifice, their commitment. It's an amazing feeling to win.
"It feels like a dream come true and all the hard work, the commitment I've put in my whole life, it's finally paid off. I'm very, very happy, the luckiest guy in the and the happiest guy in the world.”

Lifting the Europa League trophy – and with it a ticket into next season's – was a fitting reward for Son for a decade of loyal service to Spurs. The South Korea star, 32, admitted he was crushed to be left out of Tottenham's starting line-up in Bilbao, but had to put personal disappointment to one side for the good of the team.
“Look, you always want to start the game,” said Son. “But this was not a stage where you can be selfish. You just have to think about what the team needs and, of course, I was ready to do it.
“Obviously I was a bit disappointed, but the most important thing is that we won the trophy and then all I was thinking was that I was going to lift the trophy. So credit to all the boys who came on and also those who were not involved tonight, but contributed to us getting here. It was difficult, but I was committed to the team, so credit to every single player.”
Son was part of the Spurs side that lost the 2019 Champions League final to in Madrid and said the win in Bilbao was for the fans who had stood by him and the players with unswerving loyalty. “To complete that final piece of the puzzle, I feel the fans played the biggest part,” said Son, who has a year left on his current deal. “I don't think I played a big part.
“When times were hard, when it was great or when it was difficult, for the fans who supported me throughout, I was able to finally complete that puzzle. I'm so proud to have achieved something as captain of a team that no-one has managed to do in 17 years. I'm really happy and extra motivated now to do even better as a player.”
