South African stand-in captain Wiaan Mulder has etched his name in cricketing history with a sensational 367-run knock against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo. It was worth noting that South Africa declared their innings at 626/5 whilst Mulder was still at the crease.

The South African was on the verge of surpassing the highest individual score in Test cricket which is held by Brian Lara, who famously scored 400* against England in 2004. But the South African team decided to declare their innings post lunch at Day 2.

Mulder’s historic innings came off 334 balls, laced with 49 boundaries and 4 sixes, showcasing a perfect blend of patience, technique, and attacking flair. Walking in with a determined mindset, the 27-year-old skipper led from the front and completely dominated the Zimbabwean bowling attack on a flat but testing pitch.

His knock was a display of grit and endurance, as he tirelessly built his innings session after session. Every run came with authority, and as the score piled up, so did the excitement among fans at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

As he raised his bat to the crowd in Bulawayo after reaching 300, the applause was thunderous, a fitting tribute to a historic achievement. Cricket fans around the world celebrated the moment, as Mulder joined the elite club of players to have scored 300 or more in an innings.
