A woman, Kirtankar Sangeeta Pawar (45), was killed by having her head crushed with a stone at Sadguru Narayangiri Kanya Ashram in Chindhadgaon, Vaijapur taluka in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The incident occurred in the Ashram on Friday night.
Sangeeta was unmarried and had taken Sanyas. She used to sing Kirtan in nearby areas. On Friday night, she was sleeping in a room at Sadguru Narayangiri Kanya Ashram when some unidentified persons crushed her head with a stone and stole two donation boxes from the temple in the Ashram.

On Saturday morning, the Pujari Shivaji Chaudhary found the door and lock of the temple broken. When he entered inside, he found Sangeeta lying in a pool of blood. He immediately informed the villagers and the police about the incident.
On receiving the information, Action SP Annapurna Singh, sub-divisional police officer Bhagwat Funde, API Shankar Waghmode, and other senior officers visited and inspected the murder spot. The post mortem was conducted at the Sub-district hospital in Vaijapur, and the last rites were performed at the Mohatadevi temple premises on Saturday evening.
Based on the complaint lodged by Krishna Annasaheb Pawar, a case has been registered against unidentified murderers at the Veergaon police station. API Shankar Waghmode is further investigating the case. Sangeeta is survived by her parents, brother, and sister.
