Bhopal: 4 Held For Murder At Birthday Party, Key Accused On The Run

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Tightening the noose around the gang members and helpers of Naseem Banne’s gang, police on Tuesday arrested four persons including his mother and girlfriend. Police team seized two swords from possession of the accused. The arrested persons were helping Naseem and other members of the gang, police officials said.

Naseem Banne Khan and his aides identified as Waseem, Haseen and Sajid opened fire during a birthday celebration at Leeladhar Colony and gunned down one Amit Verma on late Saturday night.

Police commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra said five police teams were deployed to arrest the accused. Police teams on Tuesday raided multiple locations and arrested four persons one of whom was involved in the murder while three others have been arrested for conspiracy and helping the shooters.

Those arrested have been identified as Naseem’s cousin Sajid Khan alias Wali (24) of Kainchi Chhola area who was with Naseem at the time of murder and Naved (32) alias Rehan of Shahjehanabad. Naved is the brother-in-law of Waseem and was an active gang member.

Naseem Banne’s mother Rafiqa Bi (50) is resident of Gas Rahat Colony and his girlfriend Rukhsar (28) is resident of Idgah Hills area. The two women were actively helping and sheltering Naseem and his gang members, police commissioner added.

Police officials claimed that Naseem left his hideout only a few minutes before a police raid on Tuesday. Police teams are on his trail and he will soon be nabbed, they said.

Other connections

Police investigations revealed that Naseem had connections with another notorious criminal Arshad Babba of Tila Jamalpur area. Arshad used to help Naseem financially and was recently externed by the police commissioner.

Following father’s footsteps

Prime accused Naseem Khan’s father Banne Khan also had criminal cases against him in Shajapur. Though Banne Khan has died, Naseem’s mother Rafiqa Bi helped her son in criminal activities.

Naseem Banne Khan who claims to be a shooter of gangster Lawrence Vishnoi earned notoriety when he and his gang fired shots at a tent house in December 2023. Later, he issued threats to a police inspector. He was shot in the leg during an encounter with police and was sent to jail.

However, he began committing crimes when was released on bail and has 46 criminal cases including attempt to murder, loot, Arms Act etc at different police stations. However, this is the first case of murder registered against him, police officials said.
