Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): An injured person in a road accident will be provided with the treatment worth Rs 1.50 lakh in Madhya Pradesh. The state government is going to carry out the scheme launched by the Central Government.
The transport department is organising a meeting to which the officials of various departments will be invited.
The State Road Safety Council will be made the nodal agency to implement the scheme.
The state government has already carried out the Central Government’s scheme to give 25,000 to those who take the injured to hospital. The state carried out the scheme in the name of Rahveer Yojna.
Now, the state government is working out a plan to put the centre’s scheme to provide an injured person with treatment worth Rs 1.50 lakh.
The state will set up a Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (Motor Yan Durghatana Nidhi). To bring about the scheme, there will be two separate funds—one for the insured and insured vehicles and another for hit-and-run cases.
According to the scheme, treatment worth Rs 1.50 lakh will be provided only for seven days. Afterwards, the patient has to pay the cost of treatment.

There are two processes for getting treatment in case of accident under the scheme. The person who can get treatment through an insurance scheme will be treated with the amount that he gets through an insurance scheme.
The person who cannot get treatment under an insurance scheme or is a victim of a hit-and-run case will get the medical aid under the new scheme.
But if someone goes to a hospital after 24 hours, they will not get the benefit of the scheme.
What will be process?
After an accident victim is admitted to a hospital within 24 hours, the Transaction Management System of the National Health Authority will upload the information on its portal. From there, the data will go to the digital accident report apps of the road transport department.
The data of the accident will also go to the police station where the accident has occurred. It will happen within 24 hours of the patient’s admission to a hospital. The police station has to confirm the accident.
Afterwards, the process for transferring funds for medical aid will begin.
Besides the hospitals registered under Ayushman, other hospitals will be included in the scheme.
In case of a hit-and-run case and in the absence of a licence of an accident victim, the claim of the injured will be given approval after the collector’s nod. It will be done within ten days.
Complaints to be taken care of
A grievance redressal officer will be appointed to deal with the complaints about the scheme. If there is any delay in dealing with the complaint, the issue will go to the collector, who will solve the problem.
Afterwards, there will be an appellate officer of the State Road Safety Council.
