Apple’s iPhone 17 series is coming this September, and we’re getting four models: iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and a new one called the iPhone 17 Air. The Pro models are getting a fresh design, new chip, and serious camera upgrades. The Air model is aiming to be Apple’s thinnest phone yet. Price tags are going up, though — partly due to rising production costs and trade issues.

Prices in India are expected to rise again. The iPhone 17 Pro may hit ₹1,45,000, while the 17 Air could land around ₹90,000. In the US, that’s roughly $899 for the Air. This jump is reportedly tied to pricier components and rising tariffs in China.

The iPhone 17 Pro is getting a redesigned rear camera setup, switching to a horizontal layout with three lenses in a triangular layout. The flash and LiDAR sensor are shifting to the side. It’s the first major camera layout change since the iPhone 11 Pro.
Under the hood, you’ll get the A19 Bionic chip (likely built on a 2nm process), 12GB of RAM, and a new vapour chamber cooling system to keep things cool under pressure. It’ll run iOS 26 out of the box.
Apple’s also giving the cameras a serious boost — all three rear sensors will be 48MP, including ultrawide and telephoto. You’ll be able to shoot 8K video, and the front camera is jumping from 12MP to 24MP for sharper selfies and FaceTime calls.
Colour options are rumoured to include black, silver, grey, dark blue, and a new orange-copper tone.
iPhone 17 Air: Thin, light, minimal
The iPhone 17 Air is where things get interesting. It could be just 5.5mm thick — thinner than any iPhone before. Apple’s using a titanium-aluminium blend for strength without the weight, and the phone may weigh just 145 grams.
It’ll feature a 6.6-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate (but no adaptive ProMotion). To save space, there’s just one rear camera — a single 48MP lens — though the front still gets the upgraded 24MP shooter. The rear design follows the same horizontal bar style as the Pro models.
Battery life will take a hit. The battery is rumoured to be around 2,800mAh, but Apple’s said to be working on a smarter “Adaptive Power Mode” in iOS 26 to help make it last.
This isn’t a small refresh. Apple’s reworking its design language, pushing camera tech further, and trying to define what a high-end iPhone can be — while also introducing a thinner, lighter model that doesn’t feel cheap.
But it’s also clear that prices are going up. If you’re planning to upgrade, expect to pay more — and get more, at least on the Pro side.
