Ajay Devgn starrer Drishyam 3 is announced for October 2, 2026, release and an official announcement teaser of the film was supposed to be out on October 2, 2025. However, it was delayed.
Producer Kuman Mangat had cited background music not being ready as the main reason behind the sudden delay even though the teaser was passed by CBFC, a new report has now claimed that the issue was much bigger than what he claimed.

Sharing the actual reason behind the delay, a source told Mid-Day, “There is an understanding between the makers of the Malayalam franchise, Jeethu Joseph (director) and Antony Perumbavoor (producer), and the Hindi remake’s producer Kumar Mangat. Apparently, one of the adaptation clauses states that the Hindi team cannot make any announcement about their film’s content without the permission of the original’s makers.”
While the shoot of the Malayalam original is already underway, the Hindi remake will go on floors in December 2025.

Sharing the same, the source added, “After Mohanlal announced the shoot, the Hindi counterpart’s makers announced that their film would release on October 2, 2026. This sudden date announcement did not go down well with Antony and Jeethu. Following this episode, the clause came into effect.”
This isn’t the first time the makers of the original have had friction with the Hindi makers. Revealing the bone of contention, the source said, “The original plan was that all the three versions — Malayalam, Hindi, and Telugu starring Mohanlal, Ajay, and Venkatesh respectively — would be released on October 2, 2026, simultaneously. They were to be directed by Jeethu. But Kumar Mangat wanted his son Abhishek to helm the Hindi outing as Drishyam 2 [2022], directed by him, was a blockbuster. That led to a difference of opinion. Now, Antony and Jeethu are keen to release the Malayalam offering before the Hindi counterpart.”

Neither Kumar Mangat nor Jeethu Joseph and Antony Perumbavoor responded to the report of the friction between them.
