After Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's retirement announcement, there have been rising discussions about who will become the captain of India's next Test captain. Amid this, two names that have been circulating on social media are Shubman Gill and Jasprit Bumrah, but there is no confirmation on either yet.
However, the 25-year-old batsman is the frontrunner to become India's next Test captain, and most likely he will start his journey in the upcoming five-match series against England, starting from June 20. Moreover, according to former England spinner Moeen Ali, Gill is the right choice for the captaincy.
But the catch here is, while speaking to Sky Sports, he also pointed out the youngster's 'inexperience' in leading in Test matches.

During the chat, Ali went on to state that ideally, BCCI would have Jasprit Bumrah as the captain of India against England, but due to the workload on the pacer, the management might just refrain from making him the long-term captain.
On the other hand, during the absence of Rohit Sharma in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, Bumrah had led the side. Not only that, but he also captained the side to a victory in the Perth Test.
However, due to a back spasm, he went down in Sydney, and since then, there have been reports doing the rounds on social media about how the pacer might not be the skipper in the Test series.

According to Moeen Ali, Gill will be the next captain for India Test cricket, and he shared reasons behind it.

“I think it will be Shubman Gill. Ideally, the BCCI would want Jasprit Bumrah to captain because he is a very good captain, a good leader who has done it before. But because of his injury record, he might not be able to last the whole series,” added Ali.
