Reece James' latest injury is not thought to be serious despite the Chelsea captain withdrawing from the England squad, football.london understands.
The 25-year-old was initially selected for Thomas Tuchel's squad for the upcoming matches against Wales and Latvia, but it was confirmed on Monday morning that the Blues star will not join up with his international teammates after he suffered an injury in the win against Liverpool at the weekend.
A statement from the England national team read: "Nico O'Reilly has received his first call up to the England senior squad. The 20-year-old moves across from the MU21s squad and comes into contention for the Three Lions' forthcoming fixtures against Wales and Latvia.

"The inclusion of O'Reilly, who has been capped from MU15 through to MU20 level, follows the withdrawal of Reece James. The Chelsea captain sustained an injury playing for his club over the weekend and has been ruled out of England’s October internationals following medical assessments."
James felt something in the win against Liverpool and informed the club's medical team after the game. With the captain's injury-riddled past, the decision to withdraw him is viewed as a precautionary one. It is also not related to the gash on his leg that he posted on social media after the game on Saturday.
It is expected to be nothing more than a short-term issue, football.london understands, although no timeframe was disclosed. Chelsea will be hoping James is fit and available for the trip to Nottingham Forest after the two-week international break.
Likewise with Cole Palmer (groin), Andrey Santos (muscular), Tosin Adarabioyo (calf) and Wesley Fofana (concussion), who are all in contention to return after the break. Trevoh Chalobah missed the win over Liverpool through suspension but will be available for the trip to Nottingham on October 18.
